My name is Sam Yang, and I am currently a freshman at UC Berkeley. I am interested in web & mobile development, deep learning, music and physics, and am planning on majoring in Cognitive Science & Computer Science. I also play the guitar, sing and compose original music.
My interest in web design began after taking a Silicon Valley Youth "Intro to Web Design" course. Since 2017, I have developed over 12 websites and web applications for various organizations, people, hackathons and clubs.
I taught Advanced Web Design at SVY, web development at local hackathon workshops as well as private lessons. I also worked as a web developer for StarTeachers, an online teaching company. You can view my full work here.
I have been playing guitar since I was 8, and singing since I was 13, having performed in many concerts and recitals. I also compose, produce and record original music. Since March of 2019, I have released 4 singles. You can find my music here.
Since 2016, I have been volunteering at Silicon Valley Youth, a non-profit organization that teaches extra-curricular classes and then donates all profits to underprivileged communities, and I am currently serving as co-president. We have donated over $70,000 to the Ravenswood City School District in East Palo Alto and the Franklin McKinney School District in San Jose. You can find out more on our website.
I have been drawing and painting since I was 5 years old. I have participated and won awards in various art competitions, including the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. You can see my gallery here.
